GOALKEEPER
The Simon Smith Goalkeeping Academy is giving boys, girls and adults from the age of 10 years old the opportunity to train like the professionals do with a company dedicated to performance.The Academy will allow goalkeepers to learn and develop all the techniques and skills and ultimately improving match performance required to become a top class goalkeeper…the rest is up to you.
The Academy program will cover the main techniques and skills of goalkeeping: goalkeeping specific warm ups, handling, footwork, diving, shot stopping, one v one, crossing & dealing with high balls, dealing with the back pass and distribution from hands & feet. These topics will be covered in realistic match related practices…giving you the edge when you return to your team.

Fall Development Program
We are excited to offer the only Sunday goalkeeping development program available to all goalkeepers aged 11-17 years old, in the Lower Mainland, held on a grass surface.
Location: Wesburn Field, Burnaby
Dates: Sundays, Sept 8 - Nov 24 (12 Sessions)
Time: 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Limited to 12 goalkeepers, split into two groups of six.
ABOUT SIMON SMITH
Newcastle United Football Club
In August 2015 Simon re-joined Newcastle United Football Club of the English Premier League. Simon's responsibilities as the Head of Goalkeeping will include working with the first team & reserve team goalkeepers.
Simon Smith Goalkeeping
After successfully completing his degree in Sport Studies in 1995, Simon set up his own goalkeeping coaching company - Simon Smith Goalkeeping. Simon Smith Goalkeeping is in its eighteen year with the main focus now being on producing and selling goalkeeper resources. In 2008 Simon set up Simon Smith Goalkeeping Academy in Vancouver.
Professional Goalkeepers
Simon has worked with professional goalkeepers of Sunderland AFC, Carlisle United FC, Wigan Athletic, Hartlepool United FC, and L.A.Galaxy.

ACADEMY OBJECTIVES
To teach and coach the goalkeeper in the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the position of goalkeeper.
Never before has the number one position been more influential or demanding. Goalkeeping requires a unique mix of strength, speed, concentration, bravery and technical ability - combined with hard work and dedication. To succeed in such a specialist position requires specialist coaching.
The Simon Smith Goalkeeping Academy is offering dedicated and serious goalkeepers from the age of 10 to seniors the opportunity to train like the professionals.
The Academy will cover all the main techniques and skills of goalkeeping: goalkeeping specific warm ups, handling, footwork, diving, shot stopping, one v. one, crossing, dealing with back passes, and distribution. Anna Picarelli (Coach)
Picarelli played Division 1 soccer at Pepperdine University and was a three time all-star and the team's top defensive player in 2005. She also holds school records for single season saves. After her university career, Picarelli played professionally in Italy for ASD CF Bardolino Verona, winning three Italian League Championships and two Italian Cup Championships.
She also played twice in the UEFA Champions League in 2008 and 2009 and was the Italian National Team's starting goalkeeper for the 2009 Eurocup.
